On Senior Night, the Chino Cowboys defended their home court with a decisive 61-43 win over the Chaffey Tigers. The victory keeps Chino undefeated in league play at 8-0, securing sole possession of first place with one game left in the regular season.
Both teams started strong, with Chino holding an 18-13 lead after the first quarter. The game stayed tight in the second, as the Cowboys clung to a 34-32 advantage at halftime.
Shawn Jaimison Jr. set the pace early, scoring 14 of his game-high 18 points in the first half. Dario Shields added 10 of his 12 points before the break. Chaffey’s Hayes Yip kept the Tigers close, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the first half, including three three-pointers. Damien Crull chipped in 9 of his 12 points before halftime.
Then Chino took control. The Cowboys exploded on a 10-2 run in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 44-34. Treston Davis led the charge, scoring 11 of his 16 points in the third alone. By the end of the quarter, Chino was up 49-40.
In the fourth, Chino shut the door. The Cowboys’ defense locked in, holding Chaffey to three points in the final frame. Their offense stayed hot, sealing the 61-43 win.
With one game left, Chino (8-0) travels to Don Lugo (6-2) on Friday, January 31, at 6:30 p.m. Chaffey (6-2) will host Diamond Ranch (2-5) at home.
