In a game where one swing made all the difference, the Claremont Wolfpack edged out the Diamond Bar Brahmas, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon in a tense league matchup defined by strong pitching.

Claremont leadoff hitter Ramzey Farah wasted no time setting the tone, launching a 2-1 pitch over the left field wall in the top of the first inning. The solo home run turned out to be the only run of the game, as both teams’ pitchers locked in for a classic duel on the mound.

Diamond Bar starter Silas Swartz, a senior, settled in after the early mistake. He tossed six innings, allowing five hits, one run, striking out one, and walking five. Quinton Mendoza came on in relief to pitch a scoreless seventh, keeping the Brahmas within striking distance.

But Claremont’s Aaron Banfield proved to be the star of the day. The Wolfpack left-hander delivered a dominant complete-game shutout, scattering four hits, striking out eight, and issuing no walks to earn the win. His performance helped Claremont improve to 12-12-1 overall and 7-7 in league play.

Offensively, the Wolfpack recorded five hits and committed two errors. Diamond Bar, still searching for their first league win of the season, dropped to 5-21 overall and 0-14 in league, collecting four hits with one error.

Claremont now leads the three-game series 2-0 after also winning the opener 8-2. The series finale is set for Friday, May 2, at Claremont High School. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
