The Chino Hills Huskies opened their 2025 football season with a 40-0 win over Glendora on Thursday night. The Huskies improved to 1-0, while the Tartans begin the year 0-1.
Fast Start for the Huskies
After deferring the opening kickoff, Chino Hills quickly found its rhythm. On their first possession, senior quarterback Alex Medyn capped a 70-yard drive with a 1-yard keeper into the end zone with 4:56 remaining in the first quarter, giving the Huskies an early 7-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later, senior running back Jerimiah Jackson added a 5-yard touchdown run with 3:05 left in the first quarter, extending the lead to 14-0.
In the second quarter, Medyn connected with senior wide receiver Calum Ferrell on a 9-yard touchdown pass with 9:21 remaining, making it 21-0.
Key Defensive Stand
Glendora’s best chance to cut into the deficit came late in the first half. After a 54-yard interception return by Johnny Jabbour, the Tartans had first-and-goal at the 4-yard line. The Chino Hills defense stood firm, keeping Glendora out of the end zone on four plays, including a stop on fourth-and-goal from the 1 with 16 seconds left in the half. The Huskies carried their 21-0 lead into halftime.
Huskies Extend Lead
Chino Hills wasted no time adding to their advantage after the break. On the Huskies’ first drive of the third quarter, Medyn connected with senior wide receiver Nate Jarrett for a 44-yard touchdown with 11:36 left in the quarter, stretching the lead to 28-0.
Just under a minute later, the Huskies struck again on defense. On Glendora’s second play of the possession, sophomore quarterback Sebastian Lawrence was intercepted by Jeon Sims, who returned it 45 yards for a touchdown with 10:38 to play in the third quarter. That score made it 35-0.
In the fourth quarter, a Glendora punt snap went into the end zone for a safety with 7:20 remaining, giving Chino Hills its final points of the night at 40-0.
Standout Performances
- Jacob Jimenez led the Huskies on the ground with 137 yards on 13 carries.
- Medyn completed 9-of-16 passes for 120 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while also rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown.
- Jarrett hauled in five receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.
- Sims’ interception return highlighted a strong defensive effort.
For Glendora, Lawrence finished 8-of-22 passing for 60 yards. Junior Nazir McGlothen rushed for 29 yards in the first half before leaving with an injury. Overall, the Tartans were limited to 60 passing yards and no net rushing yards.
Looking Ahead
Chino Hills will try to carry its momentum into next week as they are home on Friday, August 29, and will play El Camino, while Glendora will regroup and play at home against Aquinas.
