The Aliso Niguel Wolverines improved to 2-0 on the season with a 52-13 victory over the Chino Cowboys on Friday night at Chino High School. Both teams showed flashes of big-play ability, but the Wolverines’ quick start helped them build a lead that carried through the evening.

Quick Start for Aliso Niguel

The Wolverines opened the game with an exciting moment as Hunter Hagen returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, giving Aliso Niguel a 7-0 lead just 14 seconds into play.

On the following drives, quarterback Carter Vestermark connected with Brody Blasing on touchdown passes of 38 and 11 yards, helping the Wolverines take a 21-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Cowboys Answer Back

Chino showed determination, finding the end zone before the quarter closed. Sophomore fullback Andrew Ruiz powered in for a 2-yard touchdown run, trimming the score to 21-6.

Wolverines Continue to Find Success Through the Air

In the second quarter, Vestermark spread the ball around to his playmakers. He connected with senior receiver Dane Malloy for a 16-yard score, then hit running back Brady Defrain on a 20-yard touchdown pass. Before halftime, Vestermark and Malloy linked up again for a 44-yard touchdown, sending the Wolverines into the break with a 42-6 advantage.

Second Half

Both teams continued to compete hard after halftime. Aliso Niguel added 10 more points in the second half, while Chino reached the end zone one more time, bringing the final score to 52-13.

Looking Ahead

Aliso Niguel (2-0): The Wolverines return home Friday to host Capo Valley.

Chino (0-3): The Cowboys will continue their homestand Friday when they take on Schurr.
