In a tightly contested water polo match filled with physical defense, timely scoring, and standout goaltending, the Glendora Tartans outlasted the Walnut Mustangs, 10–7, on Tuesday afternoon.

Each time Walnut mounted a challenge, Glendora answered, showing composure and balance on both ends of the pool.

First Quarter

Glendora struck first late in the opening period when Kaitlyn Herrera cut in from the wing and scored with 1:50 remaining, giving the Tartans a 1–0 lead. Walnut responded with strong perimeter defense, limiting damage and keeping the deficit at one at the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter

Emma Andress extended Glendora’s lead early in the second with a skillful backhand finish. Walnut answered as Adrianna Pesante found the net to make it 2–1.
Andress scored again moments later, but the Mustangs stayed within reach when Alyssa Diaz converted just before halftime. Strong performances from goalkeepers Audrey Carter (Glendora) and Ana Waggoner (Walnut) sent the teams into the break with Glendora holding a narrow 3–2 advantage.

Third Quarter

The third period featured a flurry of scoring. Andress netted two goals in under two minutes to stretch the lead to 5–2. Walnut responded when Victoria Mejia scored with 3:55 remaining.
Glendora answered with goals from Andress and Riley Gratton to push the lead to 7–3. The closing seconds of the quarter were eventful: Suemi Cabral scored with 25 seconds left, Andress answered with nine seconds remaining, and Waggoner capped the quarter with a full-pool goal at the buzzer. Glendora led 8–5 entering the fourth.

Fourth Quarter

Defense dominated early in the final period. Cabral scored again to pull Walnut closer, but Glendora responded with back-to-back goals from Ellington Steward and Andress to extend the lead to 10–6.
Mejia added a late goal for Walnut with 2:27 remaining, but Glendora’s defense and steady goaltending closed out the match.
