In Palomares League boys varsity basketball action, the Ayala Bulldogs earned a 71–63 victory over the Diamond Bar Brahmas on Wednesday night, January 28, at Diamond Bar High School. The game marked the second and final regular-season meeting between the two teams, with Ayala sweeping the season series after also winning the first matchup, 67–63.

The win gives Ayala sole possession of first place in the Palomares League at 6–2, following Walnut’s loss to Bonita. Diamond Bar remains in league contention as the season enters its final stretch.

The opening quarter featured early balance, with the score tied at 12 with 3:33 remaining. Diamond Bar’s Jacob Kim connected on three three-point baskets in the period to lead the Brahmas with nine points, while Ayala’s Brenden White also scored nine points to pace the Bulldogs. Ayala closed the quarter on a run to take a 21–15 lead.

Ayala maintained control in the second quarter, outscoring Diamond Bar 18–15 to extend its advantage to 39–30 at halftime. White continued to lead the Bulldogs offensively with three field goals in the period, while Milo Tun and Joshua Townsell added three-point baskets. Diamond Bar stayed within reach behind nine second-quarter points from Jedi Chow.

The Bulldogs widened the gap in the third quarter, taking a 49–39 lead with 2:44 remaining. White added another nine points in the quarter as Ayala outscored the Brahmas 17–11 and carried a 56–41 advantage into the final period.

Diamond Bar made a push in the fourth quarter, led by 13 points from Chow. The Brahmas trimmed the deficit to eight points at 59–51 with 4:17 remaining, but Ayala answered down the stretch to preserve the lead and secure the 71–63 win.

Chow finished as the game’s leading scorer with 32 points for Diamond Bar. Kim added 16 points, Ayden Ellis scored 13, and Zachary Zhi contributed two points.

White led Ayala with 29 points. Townsell scored 14 points, Kyle Chang added nine, Paul Christian finished with seven, and Tun scored six. Zach Canellopoulos, Braylen Pangan, and Isaiah Dolloso each added two points.

Diamond Bar will host Walnut on Friday, January 30, while Ayala returns home to face Claremont the same night. Both games are scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff.
