Last year the Ayala Bulldogs and Diamond Ranch Panthers went into overtime with the Panthers getting the win. This year it was another close game, but with a different outcome.

Ayala put points on the board first on a 39-yard touchdown run by Matthew Munoz in the first quarter to take the 7-0 lead.

The Bulldogs remained in the lead until the second quarter. That’s when the Diamond Ranch Panthers Connor Clark barreled up the middle to score the touchdown from the two yard line. The touchdown tied the game 7-7 going into halftime.

It wasn’t until the fourth quarter when the Bulldogs offense sparked and Austin Arango was on the receiving end of a 36-yard pass from quarterback ColeMcCain. Arango made the spectacular catch while being heavily guarded by a Diamond Ranch defender.

The big catch put Ayala within field goal range and Bulldogs kicker, Noah Carlton split the uprights for a 27-yard field goal kick to put Ayala back in the lead 10-7 with 4:26 remaining in the game. The Panthers were unable to score and the Bulldogs went on to win the game 10-7.

This Friday night Ayala (2-1) will face Summit at home and Diamond Ranch (1-2) will play Burbank Burroughs. Be sure to follow Sportscenetv on twitter and get live game updates and interviews.
