The Ayala Bulldogs are remaining on par with their second consecutive year going undefeated, (5-0), heading into Palomares League play.

Even with three potential touchdown plays called back due to penalties, the Bulldogs went on to get the 26-15 win over Brea Olinda, (3-2).

It was a perfectly executed flea-flicker play that put Ayala in the lead early in the first quarter. The short pass from quarterback Cole McCain to Gilbert Duran and Duran throwing the ball to Jordan Williams in the end zone for the 30-yard touchdown.

Brea Olinda would drive to the Bulldogs 21-yard line and kicker Kyle O’Brien would make the 38-yard field goal as the Wildcats trailed 7-3 in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs would come back and score on a 71-yard pass play from McCain to Marcus Monroe Jr., but a penalty flag for an illegal block on Ayala negated the touchdown ending the drive.

Brea Olinda couldn’t get a drive started on their next possession as the Ayala defense held the Wildcats to their own one yard line. The Bulldogs lead was 9-3 with 10:53 remaining in the second quarter.

Ayala would drive to the Wildcats five yard line and on fourth down Bulldogs kicker Noah Carlton split the uprights to extend the Bulldogs lead 12-3 with 9:05 remaining in the first half.

Brea Olinda opened up the second half with possession of the ball. However, Ayala’s Andrew Aguilar intercepted a pass from Wildcats quarterback Thongphrachanh. The Bulldogs drive ended suddenly as quarterback McCain’s pass was intercepted by the Wildcats Marlow Perez who turned it into a pick six and running 57-yards for the touchdown.

The extra point attempt was unsuccessful and Brea Olinda trailed 12-9 with 6:02 remaining in the third quarter.
