In a unique Saturday non-league game match-up, the Chino Cowboys hosted the Chino Hills Huskies in their new gymnasium.

The Cowboys jumped out of the chute taking the early lead behind senior Jason Hilliard who led Chino in scoring with 19 points in the game.

However, Chino Hills came back to take the lead 19-18 at the end of the first quarter behind Logan Jereczek’s pair of three point baskets and nine total points in the quarter.

The game remained close in the second quarter as the Cowboy’s bench played an integral role. Chino’s Justin Reyes three point basket gave the Cowboys the 33-32 lead at halftime.

Chino Hills regained the lead 53-49 in the third quarter. Capitalizing on turnovers and missed scoring opportunities by Chino. Jereczek continued landing shots from beyond the arc two more times in the quarter en route to being named the game’s leading scorer with 30 total points.

The Huskies Brandon Monye picked up a hot streak at the three point line in the fourth quarter. Monye landed three baskets from the arc contributing to his 24 total points in the game.

Chino Hills went on to win the game 73-58 over Chino. The Huskies record is now 8-8 overall and 0-1 in Baseline League. The Cowboys overall record is 6-11 and 0-1 in the Mt. Baldy League.
