Day Two of The Classic at Damien delivered high-level competition across the tournament, as spectators were treated to tightly contested games, several one-possession finishes, and multiple matchups that extended into overtime.

From dramatic moments in the Platinum and Gold divisions to steady, disciplined play throughout the brackets, Saturday’s slate showcased the depth and balance of one of Southern California’s premier holiday basketball events.

Platinum Division: Drama Takes Center Stage

The Platinum Division produced some of the most compelling action of the tournament.

Layton Christian (UT) earned a 63–58 victory over La Mirada, while Eastvale Roosevelt picked up a 65–61 win against American Fork (UT).

Notable scoring performances included Sloane Harris with 26 points and Bryce Melli, who scored 20 points for American Fork.

In one of the signature games of the day, Redondo Union edged host Damien 60–59 in overtime in a back-and-forth contest that featured six lead changes and six ties.

Kaiden Wilson: 19 points, 6-for-7 shooting, 6-for-6 from the free-throw line

Damien erased a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit, forcing overtime when Elijah Smith tied the game late in regulation. Redondo Union ultimately secured the win in the extra period.

Elsewhere in the division, Corona Centennial earned a 70–46 victory over Owyhee (ID).

Diamond Division: One-Possession Finish

Los Alamitos edged Rancho Cucamonga 55–54 in a tightly contested matchup.

Esperanza, ranked No. 62 in California, earned a 51–49 victory over Diamond Bar in a game defined by interior scoring and second-chance opportunities.

Ayden Ellis: 13 points, 8 rebounds

Demi Sobiye: 13 points, 4 rebounds

Esperanza finished with 30 points in the paint, including 14 off offensive rebounds.

Elsewhere in the division, Bonita defeated The Meadows (NV) 64–58.

Gold Division: Overtime Finish Highlights Competitive Game

Liberty (NV) edged Etiwanda 61–59 in overtime in one of the most competitive games of Day Two.

Etiwanda held a late lead after Armaun Pollock made it 56–52 with 36 seconds remaining in regulation. Liberty forced overtime behind late free throws by Daaron Thompkins and a basket by Tyus Thomas. In the extra period, Dante Steward tipped in the decisive basket as time expired.
