The Chino Cowboys opened Mt. Baldy League play on a strong note Tuesday night, pulling away early and never looking back in a 76–65 victory over the Ontario Jaguars at Chino High School.

Senior small forward Yousef Ihmud delivered a standout performance for Chino, leading all scorers with 22 points as the Cowboys used balanced scoring and steady defensive pressure to control the game from the opening tip.

Chino wasted little time setting the tone, racing out to a 23–10 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Cowboys continued to build momentum in the second period, pushing the advantage to 40–27 at halftime behind efficient ball movement and consistent scoring in transition.

Senior point guard Treston Davis finished with 17 points, providing leadership and tempo throughout the night. Seniors Brenton Gordon and junior guard Khalil McLendon added 14 points apiece, giving Chino multiple scoring threats and keeping Ontario from mounting a sustained comeback.

The Cowboys maintained control in the third quarter, extending their lead to 61–41 and effectively neutralizing Ontario’s attempts to cut into the deficit. While the Jaguars showed resilience down the stretch, Chino’s early separation proved too much to overcome.

With the win, Chino improves to 9–9 overall and 1–0 in Mt. Baldy League play. Ontario drops to 10–2 overall and 0–1 in league action.

Chino will look to build on its league-opening victory when it travels to face the Diamond Ranch Panthers at Diamond Ranch High School on Thursday, January 8, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Ontario will return home the same evening to host the Don Lugo Conquistadors, also tipping off at 6:30 p.m.
