After coming off a win where the Bulldogs scored nearly 100 points against Calvary Baptist in a non-league contest Saturday. Ayala was able to play their first Palomares League opponent, Bonita Bearcats. The game was initially scheduled to play earlier in the schedule, but due to COVID protocols had to be rescheduled. Monday’s date was the earliest the two teams could play and faced off on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Both teams came out playing hard as the game was physical, but in the end the Ayala Bulldogs came out with the 80-64 victory.

Ayala was led by Zach Murphy, as the senior guard scored 28 points. Six of those points came from the three point line as the Bulldogs went into halftime leading 44-31.

Bonita’s leading scorer with 17 points came from the Bearcats Colton Perez.

Bonita’s overall record is 6-13 and 0-3 in league play.

Ayala’s overall record is 14-4 and 1-0 in league play.

Ayala plays Colony at Colony on Wednesday, January 18th at 7pm and Bonita hosts Alta Loma on Tuesday, January 28th at 7pm.
